In the old blog, I had written a couple posts highlighting my adventures with the cats. Listen, cats are wonderful to own! But if you had told me I’d be living in a different state in my 30s and managing a cat colony on a historic farm, I’d have thought you were off your rocker. Now I’m the one off my rocker pouring all my love and money into these precious felines.

Let’s be real, I wouldn’t have it any other way! Raising cats is kind of like raising kids - which I had a taste for working daycare as a teenager. The 4 kittens I had taken in after their mom abandoned them basically have been a real hoot to have around. My position as a cat owner graduated from just owning to being a replacement mommy for the youngsters. Discipline, TLC, vet visits - all of that and more!

And 2 of them, as mentioned in the last post, have really taken to and love the outdoors. If they don’t get their walks, they are all kinds of trouble - crying and whining by the door, scratching/pawing at the glass panel on the screen door. It can be chaos!

Today I’ll feature my adorable troublemaker, Boots!

Boots is the wildest out of the bunch! Very needy - huge appetite - loves his walks - will literally strike up a conversation while I’m making coffee. If his sister gets a walk before him, poor buddy loses his mind and cries like his world is ending. And his sister will do the same. But he’s a loving little mush and will melt your heart!

I’ve had to create a structure for my critters just to avoid potential meltdowns and jealousy. I think it’s working…?

We need to take a moment to appreciate the outdoor siblings. Aside from the indoor ones, I have never met a more lovable, sweet brood of kittens! Since we didn’t catch Honey in time to get her fixed, she had (I’m going to just guess here) her 3rd litter. Patch was likely her first, followed by Spice and Marshmallow - sadly, Marshmallow had to be put down due to severe injuries from an attack. Then on my birthday in September, she popped out 6 babies! Only 5 of them are thriving now as their one sister passed from a congenital defect. The poor kitten wasn’t growing, despite the fact that she was eating and drinking. We tried everything to save her, but nothing worked.

Even though baby Snickers didn’t make it, her siblings have grown to be happy healthy kitties. And here they are!

Funny story about Cupcake - that was Phantom’s original name. When he showed up a second time, I thought it was a different cat, so I chose the name he has now. Upon revisiting the photos shared on Facebook, I realized…haha, it was the same cat that I had given 2 different names to!

Hope that was a nice break in the regular content of house renovations and gardening! Cats seem to be the popular topic on social media, so I thought it’d be fun for you all to get a glimpse of their interesting little lives in newsletter/blog format. It was a wonderful time writing about them, that’s for sure! Probably every month or so, I’ll feature one of the kitties with some creative tidbits on their personality, likes, and dislikes.

Because who doesn’t love cats?
