The Farm
2600 square feet of pure craftsmanship, built in 1911
Introduction
If you’re new here, I’ll start off with a little introduction (if you’ve been following my blog, you can skip this part and scroll through the new updates below): my name is Gigi! Nearly 2 years ago, my family and I picked up and trekked all the way out to Southwestern PA, settling in an old brick farmhouse in Somerset. Coming out here was a bit of a culture shock, but we’ve gotten used to the more laidback lifestyle. We’ve been in the gradual process of restoring the farmhouse and learning how to homestead 5 of the 26 acres of land.
My personal project is working 2 small-scale potato patches while managing a cat colony and working full time. In the meantime, we’re finishing some indoor projects while planting a kitchen garden right in the backyard.
This newsletter and blogsite will take you through our adventures of farmhouse renovations and building the farmstead!
Below, I will show some highlights from the old blog so you can catch up on all the happenings!

Feature Story
From Miniscule to Grand
Imagine arriving to a house that had been empty for 4 years, whose floors were completely covered in carpet from the 1970s and 1980s.
That was the first adventure in fixing the place up to our liking!
Highlights from the Old Blog
Around the Farmhouse
We had no idea how much of a fixer upper this house would be! We took a virtually blank slate and transformed it into a work of art, with pops of color everywhere!
RESTORING THE BATHROOM
Who said gray tones couldn’t be the coziest color palette?
THE CAT COLONY
Along with the farm came some free cats in addition to the ones we brought with us!
On That Note
WHAT TO EXPECT
I think that’s enough to get you started! The old blog was posted probably every month or so, and I’m hoping to make posts more regular and add a little more variety to the content. The farmstead is growing and I’m venturing into new territory this year!
So, I’ll leave you with that and hope you have a fantastic day!
See you in the next post!
Gigi
